New Copic Markers arrived today and motivated me enough to sketch a few things >3< Finally a roughly finished Lyrica with my new eye style! I was kinda afraid she’ll turn out too “girlish” but my worries were all for nothing. Tbh I love that “cheeky” look on her face <3
Her hair changed a bit too, I guess. It’s… more smooth? Fluffy? Whatever it is, I approve!

Thanks to certain circumstances I am more than ever hyped over the Tales of Symphonia OVAs AND my OC Lyrica. I truly thank the Tethe’Alla Animation for giving me a certain idea on a small Yuan/Lyrica event (pshh, she’ll hate you, but it’s fine).
I began with the sketch at today’s lunch break. It’s not much so far because of a lovely distraction at MSN ♥ but - you won’t hear that one often - I’m proud of Lyrica’s expression. She doesn’t even look like Lyrica because something is wrong with the hair, but that expression ♥♥
Not bad for the first sketch. I’m no good at facial expression, but now I certainly feel a kind of improvement.
I’m going to start a second try though. Lyrica has to show more anger and hate. Plot-wise this would be the second betrayal and additionally the one that hurts her the second most.

Originally I wanted to draw this motive for an ACEO Card, but I just couldn’t get the sketch right. Later that evening I gave my drawing tablet another chance and here it is \o/
Lyrica (called “Lyra” after she moved in with her foster-father) lived for almost a year near Iselia, but wasn’t able to adjust to the new surroundings. She still hoped that one day her real father would come and pick her up. Being an outsider, she constantly closed herself up to everyone else and thus didn’t have any friends. One day, when Phaidra took Collet to the Temple of Martel, little Collet took notice of Lyra and approached her. Without knowing why Collet wanted to cheer Lyra up and asked Phaidra to take her with them. Unable to refuse her grandchild, Phaidra took them to the temple.
After this encounter, both girls became best friends.
I really like the idea of Collet being the one approaching Lyra. Knowing Lyra at the edge of 17 (when the story starts), one would think in reverse.

Ya know, after seeing Sekai Tougou Hen, I feel even more bad about even THINKING to ship them. It was a mere joke at the beginning - I didn’t even want ANYONE to be shipped with my OC - but now I’m serious into them. And I regret nothing.
Yuan’s Cape and his hair both killed my Copic Blender but at least I’m satisfied with the dark blue (Cape). I don’t have the correct blue color for his hair and had to mix a few times (and thus overused my blender).
I’m thinking about re-designing Lyrica’s clothes. The old version really bugs me now.

Now that picture has a history on its own. The very first sketch was done almost two years ago with Lyrica alone (without the wings and the eternal sword). At that time, I wanted to add Collet and the others from the Sylvarant part, but I changed my mind. I altered Collet’s part to Martel’s and the remaining picture soon followed.
And that was it, for almost half a year.
I wouldn’t dare to outline the picture because I knew I was going to do some mistakes.
Stuff happens, I found the sketch again and decided: now or never.
The same procedure applies for the coloration. I was too terrible afraid of mistakes and in fact my concentration was missing. I wasn’t able to sit down more than half an hour. What a pain.
I tried several mediums within this picture. So far, I really like the combination of Copics and Polychromos. I will using them more frequently now.
